Critical Reflection Question 5

Video games, they’re an essential part of Pop-Culture and rule over digital media platforms. They make up a large portion of entertainment on the internet, but how do they create trends or end up trending? The answer to that is very vague however, there are some patterns I’ve noticed over the years involving video games and gamers. Let’s use this past year as a prime example though, faceless gamers. Three specific faceless gamers have overtaken the internet this year: those being Corpse Husband, Dream, and Ranboo. They’re all faceless gamers and generally speaking, have good voices and senses of humor. People love them so much because of this factor and love the mystery behind it. They usually upload on Youtube or stream on Twitch. However, they each have multiple social media platforms other than those too. Overall, they set trends for faceless gaming, Among Us (Video Game), Minecraft, etc. Dream and Ranboo are a part of the Minecraft community and play on Dream’s server called the DreamSMP. The DreamSMP is a server that’s filled with multiple Minecraft YouTubers/Streamers, where they can all play together and roleplay. That may sound silly but it’s not. As they have an entire plot and script written. People love this and it’s been advertised all over social media. People create songs based on them, stories, animations, etc. In conclusion, they’ve managed to take over the internet and have undoubtedly even created their version of sub-culture with it.
