Midterm Exam Part 2

Different media institutions, such as music, are very engaging with their audiences. Most musicians tend to have multiple accounts on different platforms so they’re able to interact with their fans and brand their company. They do this by posting stories, liking pages, holding giveaways, etc.

A perfect example of a musician interacting with their fans on a social media platform is Ricky Montgomery. Ricky Montgomery is a 27-year-old musician who sings Mr. Loverman and Line Without a Hook. These songs blew up on anime/alt Tik Tok and were particularly associated with the anime Banana Fish. So as a way of getting closer to his fans, he decided to watch the anime and film his journey on Instagram. He’d regularly update his story with every episode he watched and state his opinion on them. This act was popular with his fans and helped fund his music video for Mr. Loverman. If you watch his music video, at the end credits he mentions this.

Another example of musicians interacting with their fans would be the Band Mother Mother. Mother Mother, like Ricky Montgomery, interacts with their fans on Tik Tok. They typically like to react to their fan's videos by dueting them or leaving a comment. Usually, the duets are of them singing with their fans or their reactions to it. They also like to Livestream some of the songs that they wrote and/or are currently writing. Mother Mother additionally likes to hold giveaways for their fans too. They’re overall interactive with their fans on their Tik Tok page and other accounts.

Now there are a variety of other musicians who do this too. However, those are two prominent examples of musicians engaging with their audiences on social media. They consistently do this and are extremely kind to their audiences too. This is why they’re so popular and have a large fan base.
