Originally at the beginning of my journey, I had minimal knowledge of editing because I did it for fun before (and still do for both film and editing). However, now that I’ve taken a class for it, I’ve learned more about editing than ever before. I’ve learned about the color wheel and its complementary colors. I also learned about the parts of a magazine like a masthead, cover-line, etc. Not only that, I learned about the placement of these terms too. For example, the masthead is the header of the magazine and is usually located at the top of the magazine. I’ve learned different camera angles and shots too. And while I am making a magazine as my final (for now) that doesn’t mean I haven’t learned about the different elements of video editing. I’ve learned about Mise-en-scène, the sound types, etc. I think if you really wanna become a great editor or filmmaker you should learn about both these elements.
